Overview and Positioning

History

EM Microelectronic-Marin SA, or simply EM Microelectronic, started its activities in the 1970's by designing miniaturized, ultra low power integrated circuits for watches in the town of Marin near Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

EM Microelectronic is part of The Swatch Group Ltd. since 1985. With strong foundations in the electronic watch, a high volume consumer product requiring very low power and low voltage, the company grew into new markets and is now in a leading position for supplying highly optimized electronic circuits to battery-operated and field-powered applications. Today most of EM Microelectronic's revenue comes from markets that are not related to the watch industry anymore.

EM Microelectronic produces integrated circuits and displays for various applications areas such as communication, computer peripherals, logistics, security, access control, industrial, animal identification, consumer markets, automotive and more. The company has its own semiconductor foundry and production facilities in Switzerland. With headquarter in Marin - Switzerland, EM Microelectronic has design centers in Prague (Cezch Republic) and Colorado Springs (USA), production facilities in Asia; to complete its technology porfolio, the company also uses external foundries.
